Gobabis Vocational Training Centre: A Year of Growth and Future Initiatives

Over the past year, Gobabis Vocational Training Centre (VTC) has continued to solidify its role as a pivotal driver of skills development and youth empowerment within the Omaheke Region. The Centre has experienced steady growth in trainee enrolment, enhanced the capacity of its staff, and delivered impactful community projects that benefit the broader society.

Among the notable initiatives are the renovation of industrial markets in Gobabis, refurbishment of facilities at various schools, and the revamping of hospital beds to support improved public health services. These efforts underscore the Centre’s commitment to fostering community development and improving service delivery.

In February of this year, the transition to a unified national VTC brand further strengthened collaboration, resource sharing, and visibility across Namibia’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector. This move has enhanced the Centre’s ability to serve its students and community more effectively.

Gobabis VTC is preparing for a new phase of growth in 2026. Major infrastructure expansion plans include constructing hostel and recreational facilities, providing a more conducive environment for learners. Additionally, the Centre plans to introduce new priority skill areas aligned with evolving industry needs, ensuring that graduates are well-equipped for the job market.

In a proud achievement, Gobabis VTC was crowned overall winners of last year’s National TVET Inter-Games held in Katima Mulilo. Building on this success, the Centre has the honor of hosting this year’s event in April, bringing together all state-owned vocational training centres across Namibia. This event will serve as a platform to promote youth development, unity, and excellence among Namibia’s emerging workforce.

These milestones reaffirm Gobabis VTC’s unwavering commitment to empowering young Namibians with relevant skills, strengthening the local workforce, stimulating regional economic growth, and contributing to Namibia’s sustainable national development.
